Adapters

You will almost certainly need some sort of adapter to connect various parts of your system (client card or AP, optional amplifier, antenna) together. These are usually non-standard at one end, to standard on the other. I've had good luck getting cables made by The RF Connection. Another source with a good reputation is Michael Codanti. RF Cables Inc. has a very good web site for cables. Several people are selling pre-made cables on ebay: Ray Jungmann, Fleeman Anderson and Bird, and RPeters.

An item of concern which I haven't adequately resolved with various connectors is strain relief. Thick cables such as LMR-400 can pull an access point to the floor. It's easy to get antenna cables twisted up when working portable, which can loosen or even snap off delicate connectors. Some sort of rotating connectors are available but I don't have sources yet. It may be worth asking your adapter cable supplier what solutions they may have.

Here's a list of the connectors on some cards and APs.
